weekly roundup

looking back, moving forward

I’ve been doing these weekly round up posts for 6 weeks now and I am finding them day-planner-828611_1920to be a great way to see where and how I am spending my studio time.  There is also something about declaring my intentions for the week here on my blog that makes me feel more accountable to actually following through on those intentions.

So this past week was a bit of a crazy one with lots of appointments that had to be kept.  So I didn’t get as much studio time as I would have liked but I did manage to:

Get the first draft of the first lesson in my new Artist Studio Bootcamp class written.  Still needs some fine tuning and I need to tape a video lecture to go with it but I am pleased with the progress I have made on it so far.

I spent a lot of time in my sketchbook just playing with shapes and ideas and I even broke out a glue stick and the scissors and did some Notan.  That leaf shape intrigued me so I scanned it into my computer and explored it a bit more.  I think there is a quilt in there somewhere but I am not ready to commit to working with the image in fabric just yet.  More exploration is needed before I move to the next stage.

Last week also brought good news: both of my graffiti quilts have been juried into world of beauty at the Houston International Quilt festival in the fantasy/whimsical category!

This is my 5th time being juried into Houston and I am just thrilled that these two quilts will be on display there.

On my list of intentions this week:

I am planning on having a lot of time in the studio this week so my intention list is going to be pretty full…

Draft the second lesson for the Artist Studio Bootcamp class.

Continue to use my sketchbook to work through some ideas for my next piece.

Start doing some research and get some notes down on paper for an article I am writing for an upcoming issue of Quilting Arts on the subject of organization.

I have a few new books that have come across my desk that I want to write reviews of including Abby Glassenberg’s new ebook The Creative Blogging Cookbook: What You Need to Know to Grow Your Business Through Blogging

books

Books in my to be reviewed pile

I am hoping to have the reviews posted here on my blog by the end of the week.

Have a great week!
