So I managed to get quite a bit accomplished in the studio last week….
I wrote two book reviews and posted them on my blog here.
I drafted these two full sized new quilt ideas.
I couldn’t decide which one to work on first so I decided to just take a day and make something fun and not quilt related. I pulled out the Chit Chat Puppet Pattern by Abby Glassenberg and in just a few hours I had made a puppet! I think he looks cute nestled among the pillows in one of my guest rooms. Sometimes it’s fun to make something completely different. I’ve never made a puppet before, not sure I will be making another one anytime soon but it was fun to do and it gave me a needed break from quilt making.

Then instead of working on one of the quilts that I had drafted I ended up making a completely different quilt based on an idea that came to me in the middle of the night. I do enjoy working with such a limited color palette because it means that the design has to be really strong in order to be effective visually. The gray fabrics in this quilt are from Cherrywood Fabrics. The black is my own hand dyed fabric. It’s all fused using Mistyfuse and it went together really fast. I think I may turn it into a free project at some point if there is enough interest.
I sketched out some more ideas in floating around in my head in my sketchbook.
I am pretty sure that one on the right (or a version of it) will get turned into a quilt.
On my list of intentions this week:
My mother-in-law and my niece are coming to visit later this week and they will be here through the following week. We’ll be spending a lot of time in the studio crafting together and I am really looking forward to it. So the only thing on my list of intentions for this week and next are going to be to get the studio cleaned up and to have a lot of fun with my family. I’ll be taking next week off from blogging but I will be back on Monday the 20th with a blog post full of all the fun things we did in the studio together!
Have a great couple of weeks!

Middle of the night is the best time for ideas! The challenge is to remember them in the morning and to still like them.
