weekly roundup

looking back, moving forward

It was a busy week in the studio the last couple of weeks and I managed to get a few things crossed off my to list….

I wanted to have something fun to give away to friends at Quilt Festival this year so I had my “stay calm and press on” quilt turned into a 2″ x 2″ button!  I got these through from purebuttons and not only was it an amazingly fast turnaround but they look pretty awesome too.  I think I might have to do this with a few more of my quilts.

I put together goodybags to giveaway at my book signing at Quilt Festival in Houston.  I will be doing a book signing for my new book Modern Art Quilts on Saturday November 10, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the C&T Publishing booth (booth #840).  C&T will have 18 books available for purchase (first come first serve) and I will be giving each person who buys one a goodybag that includes a 2″ x 2″ stay calm and press on button, a special Mistyfuse sample pack and a coupon for 20% off all my online classes!

And speaking of my new book.  I have a limited number of signed ones available for purchase through my website now.  Books will ship when I return from Quilt Festival and they will include a 2″ x 2″ stay calm and press on button and a coupon for 20% off all my online classes!  Pre-order your signed copy here.

I also sent out a newsletter (which you can sign up for here), got caught up on a LOT of overdue paperwork, did a studio cleanup and actually made some progress on the quilt I started several weeks ago.  Took me forever to create all those bricks and now I can start working on adding some fun details.  Not sure what I am going to put under the bridge in those blue areas –  might be water and boats, might be a tiny town or ….

I was hoping that I would get this quilt finished before I go to Houston but that is definitely not going to happen so it will be my primary focus when I get back from Festival.

and speaking of Festival:

Yesterday I had a great conversation about my new book “modern art quilts” with Elizabeth Townsend Gard of the Just Wanna Quilt podcast that will be airing on Saturday November 10th while I am at Festival in Houston. And here’s the even more fun part – after my book signing in the C&T Publishing (booth #840) at 10:30 that day I will be heading to the Just Wanna Quilt booth (booth #254) and we’ll be making this Hexi project from my book!  This quilt is super easy and fun to make and I am really looking forward to doing some quilting with the Just Wanna Quilt army!

If you’re going to be there come by and have some fun with us!
